Energy supplier switches were up 12% in June compared to the same month the year before.
That’s according to the latest data from Energy UK, which shows more than 400,000 customers chose to change provider, bringing the total number of switches so far this year up to more than 2.5 million.
The trade association said nearly a quarter of the customers that switched moved onto deals with small and medium-sized suppliers.
Lawrence Slade, Chief Executive of Energy UK said: “Switching continues to become more popular as the energy market becomes more responsive to consumers’ needs.
“To bust another myth it really does just take minutes to switch to a better deal and save money, even during this hot weather.”
Ofgem has launched an investigation into the switching terms of British Gas.
