A bulk solids handling specialist is delivering a feedstock and storage system for a 21MW biomass plant in Hull.

Saxlund International’s £1.7 million contract will see the firm cover the design, installation and commissioning of an end-to-end solution made up of two fuel lines, each feeding an advanced fluidised bed boiler.

Each fuel line will incorporate a 200 cubic metre fuel bunker with chain and belt conveyors designed for uninterrupted fuel delivery.

The facility, which will be able to process 400,000 tonnes of sustainably sourced local waste wood each year, is expected to generate enough clean energy to power 10% of homes in the region.
