An energy infrastructure provider has won a contract to supply the EU offices in Brussels with charging equipment for electric vehicles (EVs).

Dutch firm Alfen will also provide its online management tool to track electric car behaviours and control the chargers remotely.

The roll-out of the first phase of 60 two-outlet chargers is taking place in September.

The project will satisfy EU guidelines encouraging the installation of publicly accessible chargers for EVs across its Member States, especially in big apartment blocks or office buildings.

The firm plans to equip 305 Flemish cities with charging equipment by the end of the year.
