The European Investment Bank (EIB) is lending €40 million (£35m) to finance the construction of energy efficient social housing in Spain.

They will be nearly zero energy buildings, i.e. buildings with very low energy usage due to their design and the materials used during construction.

Around 524 units will be built in the Navarre Region and more than 700 jobs will be created.

The financing will be managed by NASUVINSA, the public agency responsible for urban development and social housing projects in Navarre.
