Schneider Electric has achieved its own sustainability targets for the entire year one quarter early.
The French energy management and technology firm uses the Planet & Society Barometer and a series of indicators to give it a green score out of 10.
In the third quarter of this year, the company scored 9.01/10, exceeding it’s yearly goal of 9/10 and significantly outstripping its quarterly goal of 8.63/10.
The firm achieved 9.2% energy savings at its main sites, covering 80% of its total published energy consumption.
It says this is as a result of using a high proportion of automated assembly lines in its industrial activities and installing new energy efficient equipment, meaning few processes are still highly energy-intensive.
A total of 116 of the company’s sites sent zero waste to landfill and 148,415 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions were avoided through improved maintenance, clean retrofits and end-of-life services such as recycling.
