Global Category Lead for energy reporting to the Global Head of Commodities at the Swiss HQ, leading procurement activities of energy buyers based in US, LatAm and Singapore as well as managing European energy procurement.

March 2008 to June 2012 – British Sugar plc, Head of Energy Purchasing

Leading an energy procurement team responsible for the management of all of Associated British Foods UK and European energy requirements covering more than 230 sites.  Including sale of electricity and associated CHP LECs, sale of ROCs, purchase of electricity, gas, coal, anthracite, heavy fuel oil, gasoil and diesel.  Managing Carbon trading relating to the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, Climate Change Agreements and Carbon Reduction Commitment.

2003 to 2008 – British Sugar plc, CHP Commercial Manager

Successfully managed British Sugar’s £150M energy portfolio covering sale of electricity and associated CHP LECs, purchase of electricity, gas, heavy fuel oil and gasoil.

2000 to 2003 – British Sugar plc, CHP Commodity Manager

Managed portfolio of IT, telecoms and travel expenditure.  Won support at group level and led team to implement a group wide IT product supply contract. Negotiated multi-million pound contract for implementation of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software project.  Influenced ABF board members and company IT Directors / Heads of Department to deliver cost saving initiatives.

1995 to 2000 – British Sugar plc, Project Analyst

Delivered technical and financial evaluation of 75MWe Wissington CHP plant from conception through to operation. Similarly responsible for Bury St. Edmunds plant and front end design of Cantley and York CHP projects.

Negotiated electricity supply contracts and electricity sales contracts with purchasing department on deregulation of the electricity supply industry.  Project managed conversion of Head Office generators to peak lopping operation, led electrical energy management activity.
