An all round energy professional who specialises in the government and market support schemes and in energy efficiency in commercial buildings.
Robin has a commercial background away from the energy industry but made the switch in 2007 in a conscious career move to develop his interests in energy efficiency and renewables.
Having spent time as a commercial energy assessor ( still practicing on rare occasions) he moved into the training arena where he wrote and delivered a series of courses including level 3 and 4 Commercial Energy Assessor, Display Energy Certificate Assessor and courses for the domestic and commercial Green Deal. He helped over 70 people to gain qualification.
From here he developed a successful commercial building energy auditing practice which has seen him carrying out commissions for clients such as Network Rail, the CAA, Winchester University, various housing associations as well as multiple smaller energy users under the ESOS programme. Concentrating first on the pragmatic ‘easy wins ‘, his approach is that which wins favour with clients who are looking to reduce energy usage and CO2 emissions without grandiose schemes. Notable successes include identifying a large air handling unit which was not linked properly to the controls system, and which was running in hand 24/7. A simple connection costing tens of pounds saved this client over £27,000 per annum! Robin still carries out numerous energy audits each year and is well connected to enable delivery of recommendations once adopted.
More recently Robin has been engaged in preparing and making applications to the RHI, RO and CfD schemes for a large energy client in London across multiple and varied projects. Working as part of the project management team, his input to these projects has resulted in a change in the design of a large CHP project to maximise yields, and he has built a network of fellow professionals to enable a project to successfully apply, accredit and commission under the various government incentive schemes. He is now actively engaged in preparing applications for 4 new projects for the Capacity Market as well as advising on FFR and STOR.
Robin is also part of a network which advises clients on PPA matters, as well as starting to build a consortium of smaller self-generators to access the DSR side of the Capacity Market. This network also supplies energy switching facilities to SME clients.
