Biffa buys waste and recycling firm for £16.2m

The buyout will broaden its services throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands region

Biffa has bought a UK waste and recycling solutions provider in a deal worth £16.2 million.

The waste management company’s buyout – funded from existing cash and debt facilities – of Weir Waste Services Limited (WWS) will broaden its services throughout Birmingham and the West Midlands region, serving around 1,600 customers.

Biffa says WWS generated revenues of £16.1 million and operating profit of £1.1 million in the year ending 31st May 2017.

Michael Topham, Chief Financial Officer and CEO-designate at Biffa said: “The Weir Waste business significantly strengthens our presence and customer offer in Birmingham and the Midlands.”
