Running times subject to change

Auditorium

0930 Headline debate – Politics, Energy and Brexit

We open with a discussion on the driving force for all this change – politics. What does implementing the will of the people mean when it comes to political decisions around energy and infrastructure? How will the policy landscape affect the investment decisions made by corporations and foreign governments? We are joined by Former Energy Secretary Ed Davey, Shadow Energy and Climate Change Minister Alan Whitehead, investment expert Andrew Buglass and Mike Huggins of Frontier Economics.

1030 Powering your business through Brexit

What does Brexit mean for your energy security and costs? We will explore the issues around mitigation strategies and what business can do to influence the negotiations. A panel debate with contributions from Alistair Phillips-Davies CEO of SSE, Cordi O’Hara of National Grid, Gab Barbaro, MD of British Gas Business, the CEO of UK Power Networks Basil Scarsella and Nick Boyle CEO of Lightsource Renewable Energy.

1445 The Nuclear option

Panel debate on whether we do or don’t need new nuclear. With the controversy over Hinkley we want to look at what it all means for our energy future and of course what happens in case the deal falls through. Our panel is made of Tom Greatrex CEO of the NIA, Dr Nina Skorupska of the REA and ex DECC nuclear strategist Hergen Haye.

Seminars

As ever we are all about content so we will be providing you a staggering 16 seminar sessions running all day long. We will discuss everything from the water market, future trends, energy pricing and demand side management to return on investment projects, PPAs and self-generation, just to mention a few. Energy Live Next

The next generation of energy people are on their way, we want to build on our belief that the younger generation need to be involved in energy. So we are launching Energy Live Next – for  final year students and young energy professionals under 30. We will be holding a series of ‘TED’ style talks with people from the world of energy telling their stories about how they got in the sector, what they do and how you too can get involved.

You’ll hear from Jaz Rabadia MBE on her journey from engineer to energy manager, to STEM ambassador and meeting Prince Charles. Dan Hubbard who started working with people to help them get fit in a JJB Fitness Club and now manages the energy needs for the UK group of a multi-national retail giant. And finally the tale of Nick Boyle, who drove past a wind turbine, his eureka moment and the birth of a multi-million pound green energy business.

Our Chief Reporter Pri Shrestha will talk through their tales and encourage you to ask them questions, so don’t be shy!

1200 – Jaz Rabadia

1300 – Dan Hubbard

1600 – Nick Boyle
