Mark Gregory is the Chief Economist at EY in the UK & Ireland providing knowledge, analysis and insight to help businesses understand the economic environments in which they operate. He is a business economist with over 25 years’ experience in more than 40 countries as an advisor to the Governments and industry on economics, policy and regulation. This includes working with the Governments of Argentina and the World Bank to develop solutions to the debt and economic crisis in 1989 and 1990.
Mark is the sponsoring partner for EY’s Economics for Business Programme and EY ITEM Club, the UK’s leading independent economic forecast. Mark works with both the private and public sectors, supporting economic development, growth and regeneration. Mark is a key contributor to EY’s economic offering across the globe. In 2016 LinkedIn announced him number six of their ‘Top UK Voices’ recognising those individuals whose words have launched countless high-quality conversations locally, and globally, on the platform that year.
Prior to Mark’s Chief Economist role at EY, he was Global Head of Strategy & Business Development for Wireless at IBM and worked with clients to understand the implications of economic and market developments for their business models, cost structures and processes. Mark holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Business Economics.
Michael was appointed as the Chairman of the ELEXON Board and Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC) Panel in October 2013 and reappointed for three more years in November 2016. He brings with him a wide range of industry experience, having spent 11 years at director level with Powergen. Michael has recently relinquished chairmanship of the Carbon Capture and Storage Association.
Michael has also had a number of public sector responsibilities, notably relating to regulatory issues. He is chairman of the Government’s independent Regulatory Policy Committee and in 2007 was the author of the government-sponsored review (the Gibbons Review) of Employment Dispute Resolution Regulations. He was appointed to Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to regulatory reform in 2008 and the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2015. He is a Fellow of the Energy Institute (FEI).
Louise Kingham OBE FEI is Chief Executive of the Energy Institute, the leading professional body in energy which develops knowledge, delivers skills and promotes excellence in practice. Louise has spent the past 20 years working with energy professionals around the world delivering the Energy Institute’s mission.
Prior to leading the Energy Institute for the last ten years, Louise was formerly Director General of the Institute of Petroleum and Chief Executive of the Institute of Energy. Before working in these charitable organisations Louise worked in the commercial sector for organisations including Guinness Brewing and Thompson Publishing. In 2006 Louise received a Global Leadership in Energy Award and in 2011, the OBE for services to the Energy Industry.
Shadow Energy and Climate Change Minister
Alan graduated with a degree in Politics and Philosophy from Southampton University and went on to achieve a Ph.D. in Political Science. In 1980, he became a city councillor and then Leader of the Council when Labour took control in 1984.
Alan has held his seat as the Labour MP for Southampton Test since 1997 and was re-elected in 2015 with an increased majority. During this time, he has served on the Select Committees for Environment, Transport and the Regions; Energy and Climate Change; Environmental Audit; as well as a number of bill committees pertaining to energy and environmental matters.
Alan has been the Shadow Energy and Climate Change Minister since October 2016 and served as the Shadow DECC Minister for Generation and Transmission September 2015 – June 2016. Prior to this, Alan was the Chair of PRASEG, the All-Party Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group and Co-Chair of APSRG, the Associate Parliamentary Sustainable Resource Group. His special interests include further and higher education, local government, constitutional affairs, the environment, energy and transport policy.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Waste Management, and member of the Board for The Environment Centre (Southampton) and the Centre for the Third Age (Southampton). He is a Visiting Professor in the Faculty of Media, Arts and Society at Southampton Solent University.
Gab is responsible for British Gas Business (BGB), the division serving around 400,000 businesses across more than 700,000 locations with energy supplies and services.
BGB helps customers manage their energy, providing gas and electricity as well as a full range of energy efficiency services. Through Centrica’s Distributed Energy & Power business, BGB also provides distributed energy solutions from energy analytics to large-scale installations such as energy storage and combined heat and power (CHP) in the UK.
Gab joined British Gas’ parent company, Centrica, in 2009 as Head of Group Strategy. In 2012 he was appointed Managing Director of Business Services. Previously, Gab spent 10 years working in the energy industry in the UK and globally, as a strategy expert for Boston Consulting Group and Accenture.
Volker Beckers is the former Group CEO of RWE npower and newly appointed Chairman of ELN. He sits on the boards of several companies and organisations including the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Albion Community Power, Elexon and is Chairman of the advisory board at Rotterdam’s Erasmus University.
A graduate of the University of Koln, he has had a long and successful career in the energy and supply sector and has held a wide variety of executive roles. He is a leading voice in the energy sector and beyond.
Andrew is a Senior Manager at the LEGO Group, responsible for its renewable energy portfolio and sustainable buildings programme. He also leads its initiative to reduce scope 3 CO2 emissions across the LEGO Group’s supply chain. Andrew’s focus areas help the LEGO Group deliver on its corporate responsibility Planet Promise commitments.
Andrew takes an interest in how creativity and innovative thinking can be encouraged through playful activities. This approach stems from his exposure to the benefits of play whilst working for the LEGO Group. He believes these skills are key for individuals who are passionate about solving environmental issues.
Before his role at the LEGO Group, he spent time as a consultant developing Royal Mail’s energy efficiency and data management systems.
Prior to that he spent 6 years at Tesco PLC as an energy manager – delivering CAPEX projects related to resource efficiency, employee engagement programmes and incorporating energy management into the facilities maintenance function.
Before energy management he held roles in health & safety, building management systems and refrigeration.
Chris Staal is a Commercial Manager for SSE Business Energy leading commercial projects for the business portfolio. Prior to this Chris worked roles in Domestic Energy, Trading and Generation, having joined SSE in September 2017. He has ten years’ experience in the energy industry, working at Centrica and Mercury Energy (New Zealand) with experience across the industry from pricing and hedging, to engineering.
Kevin Greenhorn is Managing Director of SSE Enterprise Energy Solutions – the energy optimisation division of SSE. Kevin is a dynamic and forward-thinking business leader who has held a variety of senior management roles within SSE, which he joined as a graduate in 1991. Originally from West Lothian, Kevin graduated from Edinburgh Napier University with a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics with Engineering Technology. He’s passionate about the huge opportunity to reduce energy consumption and make a significant impact to the working lives of our business customers.
Dylan leads the team responsible for working in partnership with key customers to develop and implement an effective energy strategy.
Dylan and his team of Customer Solutions Managers are responsible for the development of bespoke energy solutions, integrating commodity procurement strategies with demand reduction, on-site generation and flexible load management.
With 21 years’ experience in energy management, Dylan has a proven track record of delivering energy cost reduction programmes in both the public and private sector.
Finlay McCutcheon is Director of SSE Business Energy. After graduating from Edinburgh University, Finlay worked as a Corporate & Commercial lawyer, before joining SSE in 2010 to work within its rapidly growing Renewables business. He has held a variety of senior management roles within SSE, before moving to Business Energy in September 2016. Finlay and his leadership team help meet the energy needs of SSE’s c.500,000 business customers.
Louise Innes is the newly-appointed Commercial Director for SSE Business Energy and leads on all commercial management for the small and large business portfolio. Prior to this Louise worked roles in both Trading and Domestic Energy, having joined SSE in October 2014. She has ten years’ experience in the energy industry, predominantly in large business product and pricing, with previous roles at both Ofgem and Scottish Power.
Pavel Miller is Head of Wholesale Policy at SSE, leading on government engagement across a number of policy areas including renewables; thermal generation, and Business Energy. Prior to SSE Pavel was Senior Manager in the Generation team at Energy UK, the trade association for energy suppliers and electricity generators, for three years, and led on their Electricity Market Reform work.
Prior to entering the energy sector, Pavel worked as a Public Affairs consultant for Weber Shandwick, working across a range of sectors.
Tim has worked within the energy industry for over five years and has a wealth of experience across industrial and commercial energy supply contracts, renewable energy project development and financing and industrial and domestic energy efficiency projects.

Omar has spent the last 12 years in the energy industry. He has traded throughout Europe for some of the largest energy trading houses in the world, having previously manged over £3 billion in energy. He then founded Energi Mine on the basis that the energy broking industry was riddled with inefficiencies. Scott is a senior manager in Ofgem’s Innovation Link, responsible for delivering the second window of the regulatory sandbox, which enables energy innovators to trial new products and services. Prior to this role, Scott spent 3 years in Ofgem working in commercial networks on the delivery of OFTO’s and interconnectors.
Previously, Scott spent over 4 years working in the energy industry, globally as a project manager at Vestas wind systems and in the UK as both a consultant at E4tech and as a researcher at Imperial College, where he earned an MSc in Environmental Technology in 2009.
