Sumit has more than two decades in journalism, firstly with National newspapers and then in broadcasting. He joined the BBC in 1993 as a reporter and presenter and has worked on all major news outlets including Breakfast, One and Six O’Clock News, 5Live, BBC News channel, BBC Three and World Service. He presented the BBC One current affairs strand Inside Out for five years and also travelled the world with Holiday. After leaving the BBC to follow a freelance career he worked for SKY and ITN and the Travel Channel. He is the Editor of Energy Live News which he co-founded in 2010. Sumit has been silly enough to get caught in a blizzard in the north pole, cycle to Paris, swim with sharks and even more ridiculously continues to support Leyton Orient.
Geoff is ELN’s Commercial Director and co-founder. He has had a successful 25 year career in strategic selling working for big brands and corporations. Geoff has worked at all levels of corporate sales and previously set up a successful software company. He is in charge of commercial strategy and finance as well as coming up with the idea of ELN in the first place. Known widely in the industry in a very short space of time he certainly gets noticed. A man of real substance he has been a devoted Arsenal season ticket holder ever since they started winning things and is also an even bigger fan of cakes.
Emma Howard is a former BBC News presenter and reporter on both television and radio. As a news correspondent she worked for the One, Six and Ten O’clock News as well as Radio 4 and 5Live. As a presenter she fronted Breakfast on BBC One and later presented on News 24 and Drive time on 5Live. She has reported on flagship programmes such as Watchdog and Today on Radio 4. She now works freelance for blue chip corporate sector clients and other news organisations including ELN. Emma is also fantastic at baking cakes as Geoff will attest to.
Vicky is our Chief Reporter. She made her mark very quickly at ELN and has got to know the industry well and is a popular face in the sector now. Vicky studied English Literature and Language at Leeds University, where she was on the Guardian Student Newspaper of the Year-winning editorial team at Leeds Student, also completing her MA in Writing for Performance and Publication. She was Yorkshire Editor for Whatsonstage.com and still has a keen interest in theatre and for her sins often reviews plays that should not have seen the light of day. She also has an amazing penchant for singing show tunes in the office.
Part of the launch team for ELN, Simon graduated from Staffordshire University with a First Class Degree in film Production Technology. Simon is Head of Production for ELN overseeing all filming, graphics and design. He has created the look and feel of ELN and is at the forefront of thinking up new innovative ways for us to make an impact. Not surprisingly Simon has a passion for film making and spends a large amount of his free time pretending to be Marvel cartoon characters – or as he calls it – working on short film projects, particularly movie parodies. In fact he is so good at dressing up his work has been selected for several awards.
Christan joined ELN in early 2012 and is one of our Business Development Managers. With a degree in Business and a very successful career in music production and recording he decided to join the ELN team looking for a different direction creatively. He’s the only one of the crew who has chilled with Snoop Dog in LA and continues to produce music in his spare time. He’s also stopped regularly in the streets by people who think he starred in the Shawshank Redemption…he didn’t.
Pint-sized but packing a punch, Pri joined ELN from Middlesex University with a post graduate degree in Journalism and Media. She’s a reporter and is rapidly proving herself as a good one with a keen drive to learn. Originally from Nepal funnily enough she complains a lot about the cold and has no desire to climb mountains though is happy to drink Newcastle Brown Ale having spent some time masquerading as a Geordie.
Paul (Timmy) The Hammer joined ELN in 2013 and is also Business Development Manager. Paul has been working in energy publications and market data arena since 1996 with Heren Energy (now ICIS Heren), or working for himself on a consultancy basis. Having primarily worked in price reporting he has good knowledge of the energy markets and the issues around them. His appointment has raised the average age at ELN by 25 years but even though he is a grandad, as yet he has not asked for a Stannah stairlift to be installed. There is some confusion in his mind though, as he too supports Arsenal.
Ash joined us in April 2013 as an apprentice cameraman and editor. Though an Essex boy through and through we still gave him a job as he promised to leave his souped up Rover with extra wide wheels at home. Having worked in banking in a previous life he decided the glamour of TV outweighed the charms of Southend High Street. He has grabbed the filming mantle well and has finally learned how to make a cup of Earl Grey tea. In his spare time he is often high…in the sky flying oversized kites – it’s a youf thing.
Rob is a well known figure in broadcasting firstly at the BBC and then for over 20 years at ITN where he was part of the production team reporting from around the globe covering major news stories such as the Fall of the Berlin Wall, the Rawandan Massacre and 9/11. He was in particular an award winning producer in scientific news and has worked with all the major names in British Television news. Rob now freelances in all forms of production and is a regular stalwart of ELN. He also tells the most charming jokes mainly about talking dogs.
We do sometimes use freelancers and can offer graduates internship placements so anyone interested in filming, editing or reporting for ELN should get in touch by the address below or send a CV, covering letter and short showreel to email@example.com.
