Editor and co-founder. Sumit has more than two decades in journalism, firstly with National newspapers and then in broadcasting. He joined the BBC in 1993 as a reporter and presenter and has worked on all major news outlets including Breakfast, One and Six O’Clock News, 5Live, BBC News channel, BBC Three and World Service. He presented the BBC One current affairs strand Inside Out for five years and also travelled the world with Holiday. After leaving the BBC to follow a freelance career he worked for SKY and ITN and the Travel Channel. He is the Editor of Energy Live News and runs all matters editorial as well as all production. Sumit has been silly enough to get caught in a blizzard in the north pole, cycle to Paris, swim with sharks and even more ridiculously continues to support Leyton Orient.
Geoff is ELN’s Commercial Director and co-founder. He has had a successful 25 year career in strategic selling working for big brands and corporations. Geoff has worked at all levels of corporate sales and previously set up a successful software company. He is in charge of commercial strategy and finance as well as coming up with the idea of ELN in the first place. Known widely in the industry in a very short space of time he certainly gets noticed. A man of real substance he has been a devoted Arsenal season ticket holder ever since they started winning things and is also an even bigger fan of cakes.
Chief Reporter. Pri joined ELN from Middlesex University with a post graduate degree in Journalism and Media. She’s in charge of day to day news gathering as well as getting out and about. In fact she’s taken the ELN cameras to Norway, France and Russia, perhaps that travel bug comes from her roots back in Nepal. Despite growing up in the foothills of the Himalayas she complains a lot about the cold and has no desire to climb mountains, though is happy to drink Newcastle Brown Ale having spent some time masquerading as a Geordie.
Operations. George is Essex through and through, he joined us in 2014 as a business apprentice but has spent most of his time entertaining the ELN team with a wide-boy comedy routine. When he’s not popping out for a shifty fag or DJing in dodgy clubs in the land of TOWIE, he works on all matters operational for ELN including logistics and administration. He’s in charge of making sure our major events go smoothly. Which generally involves him drinking lots at the free bar.
Market Research and Sales. Hazel joined us in 2014 and is involved in market research and sales development for ELN. She is a seasoned sales and marketing professional who has had a 30 year career in the field. She’s also the sole member of the ELN satellite office in the Scottish Highlands. Larger than life she rides Harley Davidson bikes and can sink pints with the best of them. Her drinking discipline comes from being a Colonel’s daughter! And no his name wasn’t Sanders!
Reporter. Jonners is rubbish at cricket (bit like his namesake) but very good on old bikes. A charmingly well educated young man, he is both the most polite reporter we have had and the most laid back. Early into his ELN career he is trying, very trying but we love his manners so much we think he will take the sector by storm. He’s also very good at sounding interested at conversations.
Camera and Graphics. Becky started as an apprentice but is now a graphics queen! A one time barmaid from Uxbridge she’s tiny but tough and used to dealing with unruly types, so fits in very well at ELN towers. Always interested in cameras and photography she boldy chucked in the pies and pints to train as a camerawoman and VT editor. She’s promised not to call time on us.
Camera and Graphics. Alex cashed in his chips at college as he wanted to experience the real world of work and that led him to ELN. A Bromley boy he’s getting to grips with filming and graphics work and is making sure he still does his chores for his mum. Ah! Creative and professional when out filming, provided he’s reminded to remove his earring, he is a bright spark with a penchant for chicken wings.
Camera and Graphics. Our Jodes as she is known is a sort of Welsh rarebit who started off doing a degree in events and then realised a life behind a screen was what she wanted. A creative editor who is now getting to grips with cameras, she has amazing insight and amazing Blonde moments and can’t pronounce the word “Thames”. Her party trick is losing contact lenses and putting tents up in the office – don’t ask!
Social media apprentice. Lozza is always buzzing to come to work, or not. Bovvered she might be about social media but ask her to take out the bins and it’s world war three. She’s great at chuckling to herself watchin re runs of peep show and occasionally does a bit of tweeting about energy too! She’s out to spread the word so watch out this Essex lass takes no prisoners!
We do sometimes use freelancers and can offer graduates internship placements so anyone interested in filming, editing or reporting for ELN should get in touch by the address below or send a CV, covering letter and short showreel to [email protected]
