Projects that are capable of delivering electricity for 10 to 24 hours or longer will be supported
The projects, which include both new builds and retrofits for existing batteries, have an aggregate capacity of 3.05GW and will be equipped with advanced inverter technology
The companies will work together to take solar projects from site identification to commercial operation, supporting Centrica’s ambition to deliver 900MW of solar and battery storage by 2026
Interested areas include mechanical storage systems, compressed air energy storage, storage of heat, hydrogen or natural gas and heat pumps or pumped heat electrical storage
The Crown Estate will lease 13 hectares of land for a £160 million grid-scale electricity storage facility in North Wales.
