Viridor
Sutton Council demands an explanation from the Environment Agency over plans to increase waste treatment at the
Beddington Energy Recovery Facility
The Environment Agency has launched a consultation on Viridor’s plans to increase the capacity of the facility by around 34,864 tonnes a year
The facility near Bristol has the capacity to process 1.6 billion items of plastic and divert around 320,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste from landfill every year
The acquisition will expand Biffa’s industrial and commercial collections business and recycling capabilities in the UK
The partnership will see waste collected, recycled into clean heat and delivered through pipes to warm homes and businesses
Viridor’s Energy Recovery Facility could generate enough power to heat more than 68,000 households
Trident Park Energy Recovery Facility in Wales receives 350,000 tonnes of residual waste every year
The work for the project is expected to be finalised by the end of 2023
Pennon Group stated that the deal still needs approval from its shareholders, merger control clearance from the European Commission and needs to meet certain other conditions
The waste management firm will provide it from its £65m Avonmouth Resource Recovery Centre near Bristol
