Giles Hankinson is a serial entrepreneur. Having successfully grown and exited multiple businesses, Giles was recruited by a London based Private Equity house, to develop the UA business.
Following significant investment in a complete rebrand, the deployment of leading edge technology and attracting industry leading talent, the customer portfolio has increased by 25% in the past two years.
The company is embarked on a clearly defined growth strategy; one that builds upon the ethical brand UA has built, over the past 13 years.
Chris Ashleigh is the Managing Director of the 2014 TELCA award winning consultancy Hotel Energy. He has over a decade of experience within the Energy industry, specialising within the Hospitality, Catering, Gaming and Leisure sectors.
Over the years, Chris and his team have managed to assist a number of businesses to become increasingly energy efficient and Carbon Neutral through innovative portfolio management and professional procurement expertise.
Although Chris now lives in Kent with his wife and two children, he has also lived in America, Australia and France. Chris spent 3 years as a N.Y. City DJ and is still a passionate music producer in his spare time.
Johnny Wilson, Head of Indirect Sales, npower Business Solutions
Johnny has ultimate responsibility for the relationship npower has with the growing number of energy consultants and brokers the business serves at the larger end of the market. He has worked in a range of roles within the consultant sector for the past five years, developing both the client base and the npower team while also building and enhancing the sales offering for fixed, flexible, consortium and mid-market purchasing arrangements.
Prior to joining Business Solutions, Johnny worked with npower Business as Head of Acquisition Partners & Commercial Sales Team, where among other achievements, he grew broker sales in the SME sector from 30 to 1000 per week in just one year. Previous roles at npower include Energy Purchasing Manager, leading a team responsible for hedging and risk management of power and gas for business and residential consumers. Johnny also has experience of pricing and renewables, with a career in energy spanning almost 20 years.
Outside of work, Johnny is a keen football enthusiast, managing a successful senior football club in the Northern Alliance Premier Division. He is currently working to upgrade the club’s facilities to semi-professional level, as well as establishing a youth football academy. He is married with four children and lives in Northumberland.
Kate Derrick, Sales Development Manager for npower Business Solutions
As an award-winning sales professional, Kate is responsible for optimising and developing the key sales channels npower operates to serve our business customers.
Kate joined npower in 2011, working first with consultants as a Consultant Sales Performance Manager before moving on to develop the gas market as a strategic and growing area of the npower Business Solutions portfolio. In December 2014, she was named the ‘Best Woman in Field Sales’ at the Women in Sales Awards.
With 13 years experience in the energy industry, Kate started her career at E.ON in marketing and customer service. In 2005, she became a New Business Sales Team Manager, setting up a new team and achieving an impressive six figure sales figure in the first year. She then went on to focus on new meter connections and cross-selling new supply contracts, before leaving to join EnergyQuote JHA as a Regional Consultant and then working in a short-term role to establish a new consultants and brokers sales channel for an ex-National Grid spin off called Fulcrum.
Andrew Taylor, Head of Indirect Sales, npower Business.
A graduate of Aston University, Andy began his career in logistics. He worked with both Christian Salvesen Distribution and L’Oreal, before taking the opportunity to work in California, spending two years with Enterprise Rent A Car.
His journey in the energy industry started on his return to the UK in 2000, when he began working in the broker account management team with the newly formed independent supplier economy power. Andy was a Senior Account Manager for the company when it was bought by Powergen. As the Manchester office was closed, Andy once again took the chance to go abroad, this time working in property sales in Southern Spain for 15 months. Powergen itself was then bought by E.ON and an opportunity arose for Andy to head up the newly re-launched TPI channel within the SME area. He continued in this role until being recruited by npower as Head of Indirect Sales in July 2014.
Ben Spry is manager of the award-winning Optimisation Desk and the new public face of energy trading and risk management for npower. With over 11 years industry experience, his trading knowledge and energy market expertise enables him to interpret and articulate the latest trends and drivers. Ben joined the desk in 2011 as a Client Portfolio Manager having spent 7 years working for British Energy and more recently EDF Energy where he managed a large portfolio of manufacturing prospects and customers and specialised in structuring and negotiating non-standard power products for Industrial and Commercial customers.
