The inagural Energy Buying and Supplying Excellence Awards takes places at London’s famous Langham Hotel this evening. The event is designed to celebrate an area of the energy sector that is often overlooked, procurement.

Founder of the awards Shawn Coles MD of Edge Business Media told ELN: “These awards are to showcase the often complex and difficult job of procurement especially in today’s complex market place which is dirven by legislation and regulation.

“I wanted to create something to celebrate the success of the people working in the industry. Our biggest award tonight is for the energy buyer of the year, which is a unique award in our sector recognising the difficult job such individuals do and how important their work really is.”

There are eight award categories; Independent Energy Consultant of the Year, Independent Energy Supplier of the Year, The Green Award, Energy Consultant of the Year, Energy Supplier of the Year, The Innovation Award, Energy Buyer of the Year and one special Lifetime Achievement Award.

The results will be collated from the views of a special judging panel of independent energy experts and online votes.

Hosted by ELN Editor Sumit Bose, the awards are set to become a regular feature in the energy calendar. ELN will be reporting from the awards and will bring you a full list of the winners tomorrow.
