International renewable energy company Enfinity wants to build a solar farm on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare.

The Belgium-headquartered company wants to construct a five-megawatt plant which could result in around 22,000 solar panels installed on up to 25 acres of land.

Enfinity is now in talks with the local council on whether an Environmental Impact Assessment is needed ahead of the firm submitting its plans for the development.

If planners give the project the go-ahead it is hoped it will be up and running by next year.

Enfinity specialises in solar and wind power facilities and last year opened its first UK base in Liverpool.
