Private sector businesses need help from the Government to implement efficiency measures, say energy consultants.

Power Efficiency’s Director of Energy Projects has expressed concern that the Government needed to help drive energy efficiency.

Mr Brinkworth said: “Input from the Government to develop an example that accurately specifies how much extra energy could be reduced by implementing efficient designs, commissioning and operation of buildings, would be invaluable, creating a robust business model for change.”

With such help, businesses could reap quick rewards from efficiency measures, he added: “UK business cannot afford to ignore the financial benefits of being energy efficient in such economically difficult times. By being smarter about how and when we use energy, the private sector can start making sizeable savings quickly – many within just one year.”

Power Efficiency’s advice comes with the recent launch of a joint-report with energy think-tank Carbon Connect on energy efficiency and government policy.
