Energy minister Chris Huhne has been accused by his ex-wife of asking an aide to accept penalty points on his behalf for a speeding offence.

Economist Vicky Pryce, who was dumped by Chris Huhne after 26 years of marriage, has claimed that Mr Huhne pressurised people into taking the rap for his driving offences.

Mr Huhne’s camp has strongly denied the claims and say his driving ban in 2003 for reaching maximum points acts as proof.

The current Energy Secretary has been hitting the headlines recently, most notably for his AV row with leading Tories.
