Alstom have signed a deal with hydrogen power specialists RusHydro to improve current facilities, in a project that will increase output of its Russian power plant.

The Kubansky Cascade hydropower plant complex includes eight hydropower plants and one pumped storage power plant, with a total generating capacity of over 460MW.

The project will see capacity increase from 10% to 20% (up to 550 MW) and may take up to ten years.

Alstom will carry out rehabilitation work of mechanical equipment as well as install a new instrumentation and control system.

The Kubansky Cascade hydropower plant complex is situated on the Kuban River and extends for 235 kms.
