New photographs of the tsunami wave hitting the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant after the earthquake on March 11 have been released.

Tokyo Electric Power Co posted images that were taken as huge waves roll in, enveloping a Radioactive Solid Waste Storage Facility.

The images show cars swept up in the flow as water swamps the buildings at the Japanese nuclear plant.

After the tsunami hit, the power plant struggled to maintain safe levels of radioactivity in its reactors, provoking a crisis level that equalled the 1986 Chernobyl disaster.
