Leaders in the nuclear sector voiced their support for the UK government’s safety review after the Japanese disaster in March.

Humphrey Cadoux-Hudson, EDF’s Managing Director for Nuclear New Build said: “The UK government’s response has been balanced and considered. It is testament to the strength of our safety regulations.”

Speaking at the Marketforce Nuclear Industry Forum the managing director said that investment and direction from government went hand in hand to maintain security of supply: “National policy statements remain critical for us and are essential for our plans.”

Alan Raymant, Chief Operating Officer at Horizon Nuclear Power was on the same page: “There have been important interim conclusions that give us confidence. We believe the GDA process can address lessons learned without affecting project development.”
