The Department of Energy and Climate Change has appointed Andrew Jamieson, the Chair of RenewableUK, to become chair of the new industry-led Offshore Wind Cost Reduction Task Force.

DECC recently published a ‘Renewable Energy Roadmap’ which aims to reduce the costs facing the renewables industry. Involve industry, the Government and the Crown Estate, the task force will provide an industry lead in driving the work necessary to bring the levelised costs of offshore wind down to £100/MWH.

Mr Jamieson was invited by the Energy Minister Charles Hendry to chair the task force. Currently Chairman of Renewable UK Mr Jamieson is a board member and former chairman of Scottish Renewables.
