Volkswagen could make a unique break into the electric vehicle market with a single-seater electric car. The car would be suited for shorter trips like commuting, Jürgen Leohold, head of research at VW’s car plant in Wolfsburg told the Financial Times.
A spokesperson for VW could not confirm the news, but said they were expecting more information at the Frankfurt Motor Show in two weeks’ time, adding: “Electric power is very much a direction we’re moving in.” The spokesperson also said that there are “firm plans” for an electric version of their new city car, the “up!” which was unveiled yesterday (pictured).
