The Canadian Nuclear Association has launched an online PR drive to persuade Canadians that nuclear energy is safe and reliable. The society has created a new micro-site with “fun and interesting facts” about nuclear, such as plans to send rockets to the moon by nuclear, or the irradiation of food to prolong its sell by date.

Denise Carpenter, President and CEO of the Canadian Nuclear Association said: “Every Canadian who has ever driven a car, has a smoke detector in their home or knows someone who has received diagnostic testing and treatment for cancer, has benefited from the contributions made by nuclear technology.”

Canada’s nuclear industry employs more than 70,000 people.
