GDF SUEZ’ s exploration arm has signed two contracts with engineering firm Petrofac to create one hundred new jobs in the North Sea. The deal worth £30m will mean Petrofac will service the needs of GDF’s exploration work particularly in the Cygnus field.

Jean-Claude Perdigues, managing director at GDF SUEZ E&P UK, said: “These two new contracts represent a significant milestone for GDF SUEZ E&P UK and will help the company to conduct its North Sea operations safely, efficiently and cost effectively. I look forward to a long and productive relationship with Petrofac.”

GDF SUEZ E&P holds around 50 exploration licences and has 16 producing fields located in the North Sea. Cygnus is one of the most significant undeveloped gas fields in the United Kingdom Continental Shelf which could hold up to 28billion cubic metres of natural gas.
