Direct Energy, a subsidiary of British Gas’ parent company Centrica, has bought Texas energy retailer First Choice Power for $270 million (£175 million). This takes the number of electricity customers in the state to more than 830,000. Chris Weston, Direct Energy’s President and CEO said: “This acquisition is another important step towards growing scale and leadership in our North American business.”
