Scotland is spending £2 million on creating 1,000 extra apprenticeships in its energy and low carbon sector. These come on top of the Scottish Government’s commitment to fund 500 training places every year until 2014. Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond said: “These additional training opportunities are being made available in response to increasing employer demand from this sector for new entrants.”
