Biomass maker and trader Africa Renewables (AfriRen) has signed a five year deal to supply Danish utility group Verdo with biomass from their Ghana project.

AfriRen creates its biomass with woodchips made from redundant rubber trees in Ghana that are cut in order to prepare for replanting.

AfriRen estimates it will provide 750,000 metric tonnes of biomass in total. The firm says this could effectively double the biomass exports from Africa to Europe.
