An American trade association has formed a committee, which aims to advance the state of smart technology.

The Consumer Electronics Association has set up a committee, which aims to accelerate the development of smart technology to help their clients introduce them into the market and improve their compatibility with the future smart grid.

The smart grid will enable consumers to connect to their smart meters or other electronic devices within their homes and get information on their energy usage.

Brian Seal, Technical Executive for The Electric Power Research Institute said: “This new specification addresses a significant gap in the smart grid for a unifying technology that enables a range of consumer products to respond to demand response events.”
