Siemens is submitting plans to develop a wind turbine factory in Hull, it announced yesterday.

The German manufacturer is handing in a joint application with the Associated British Ports (ABP) to Hull City Council to demolish existing buildings at Alexandra Dock and develop new facilities. The proposals include plans for offices and a helicopter landing site.

If the proposal to develop the Green Port Hull facility is accepted, the site could be operational by 2014.
