Power generation firm Alstom has won a €240million contract for a cable project from Sweden’s state-owned utility, Svenska Kraftnät.

The manufacturer will work on the 1440 MW South-West Link, which will connect the town of Barkeryd in central Sweden with Hurva in southern Sweden.

Alstom’s HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) Centre of Excellence in Stafford, UK will play a key role in the project, expected to be completed by the end of 2014.
