DECC have confirmed they will be appealing against the decision made in December by a High Court judge who ruled that changes to the solar Feed-in Tariff were “unlawful”.

The department had proposed to reduce the amount of payback for small-scale solar projects up to 4kW in size should be set at 21p/kWh, down from 43.3p/kWh and wished to implement the changes in the middle of the consultation period.

The Government came under fire from several renewable groups who claimed the changes were causing the solar industry to falter. Tomorrow is the appeal deadline.
