The UK’s second largest energy services company MITIE has snapped up energy consultancy Utilyx for £15million, it was announced today.

Formed in 2000, Utilyx works with major energy users such as Scottish Water, Iceland and McDonald’s, helping clients plan their energy use and energy buying as well as cope with rising energy costs.

Ruby McGregor-Smith, MITIE Group’s chief executive said: “The need for all organisations to use fewer natural resources is changing our marketplace. Energy management is integral to what we do and this acquisition forms part of our considerable investment to further develop MITIE’s energy services capability.”
