Our client is a world leader in the development of sustainable second-generation technologies converting waste plant materials into valuable products like biofuels and chemical intermediates.

They are seeking a talented molecular biologist to lead and inspire its expanding Strain Engineering section. The company are building a portfolio of novel strains, processes and products to add to their thermophile technology platform, using traditional improvement techniques in conjunction with rational metabolic engineering. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to shape the future of this section.

You will possess a PhD with significant applied research experience – most likely in or with industry and be able to demonstrate a track record of success. Your knowledge of cutting edge molecular biology techniques will be matched by your ability to apply these effectively within an industrial setting.

As the head of a talented team of scientists, reporting to the R&D Director, you will be expected to demonstrate dynamic leadership. You will be responsible for developing research programs within the section, as well as providing strategic and technical support on internal and external research programs across the business.

This position will be based in Surrey – Salary 50k, bonus and benefits.
