As the world’s thirst for energy steadily increases over the coming years, that need will be met by an increasing proportion of renewable technologies. This is according to BP, whose latest Energy Outlook see renewables continue to be the fastest growing sources of energy globally.

BP claim demand for renewables could rise by 8% a year until 2030. BP’s report expects global energy demand to grow by 39% by 2030 and believes it will remain dominated by fossil fuels, which are forecast to account for 81% of global demand.

Bob Dudley, BP chief executive said: “The main message is that we need to have an open, competitive energy sector, which encourages innovation and thereby maximises efficiency in order to enjoy energy that is sufficient, secure and sustainable into the future.”
