The energy markets can expect an “unpredictable” 2012 when it comes to prices, according to analysts at an energy brokerage.

The unstable world economy will continue to drive trends in the UK and European energy markets this year, suggests EnergyQuote JHA.

Jonathan Lydiard-Wilson, a director at the gas and electricity brokers said in a trends report: “There is an undeniably close correlation between the health of global economies and the demand for, and by extension price of, energy commodities.”

The news for industrial energy users isn’t all bad though, he said: “The focus upon reducing energy usage will continue with more companies taking advantage of the annual €5bn savings that can be made across Europe.”
