Spain’s wind sector grew at the slowest rate in its history last year, according to new data collected by AEE. The Spanish Wind Energy Association (AEE) said 1,050 MW of wind power was installed in Spain in 2011.

This was a yearly increase of 5.1%, said the AEE, failing to reach the target set by the country’s last Government, which lost power in December 2011.

The wind association said a lack of orders for wind turbines is already leading to major restructuring in the sector, while manufacturers are “likely” to move to other countries.
