Global energy consultancy, M&C Energy Group, has been given a higher recognition by the Investors In People (IIP) Awards for the way they work with their staff.

Since 1998, M&C Energy Group has been consistently accredited with the Investors In People standard award that recognises effective people management practices.

For their clients and market position, the accreditation offers a reassuring indicator of their quality approaches and also a clear differentiator from competitors.

Now the award has not only been renewed after a recent assessment, but has also been upgraded from standard to Bronze Award.

This has come at a time when the company have announced acquisitions in Australia and USA and have increased their number of offices around the globe to 20; as well as posting increasing profits, and assimilating the new company structures and cultures into their own.

The renewal process was conducted in the UK earlier this month and involved employee meetings with an independent assessor. Participants were selected to offer a representative sample by gender, position, length of service, authority level and function.

Elaine McCaffrey, Head of HR at M&C, said: “This is a significant achievement for the business as it recognises the role that all employees contribute, the culture and values that we exude and the service level we offer to colleagues and clients.

“Our culture of challenge and questioning, open communications and our drive towards continuous improvement was also recognised in the meetings and secured our renewal. Investors in People also explored employee engagement, reward, training and development; I am pleased to confirm that all of these areas were viewed positively. These indeed are some of the key ingredients to help us achieve our strategic goals.”

Last month M&C announced it had expanded USA footprint and strengthened its market position with the acquisition of energy consultancy service Coleman Hines, headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, only months after entering the US market.

The addition of Coleman Hines to the M&C stable is the latest in a line of acquisitions by the global market leader. In 2010 they acquired Utility Masters Ltd (UK), ETT GmbH (Germany), Creative Energy Solutions (Australia), and Encore International Ltd (UK).

Recently M&C added a Brisbane office to their Australian operation to complement their existing Melbourne office. A New Zealand office is expected to open in the Spring of 2012.

M&C Chief Executive Mark Dickinson, said: “This latest award shows we are not only growing in maturity and size as a global business.

“We are also growing in maturity and best practice in the way we work internally with our staff to improve our ways of working and in providing service to our clients.”
