A new €600m (£480m) funding package for a Belgian wind farm shows renewables investment is on the up claim analysts.

The new cash for a 216MW offshore wind farm project off the Belgium coastline was announced by the developer Northwind NV this week.

Dane Wilkins, Head of Renewable Energy Capital at Jones Lang LaSalle Corporate Finance said: “We see this as as further evidence that green shoots are beginning to take hold in financing of large renewable energy projects.”

The deal brings together three investment parties, distributing financial risk, which could prove to be the blueprint for similar future investments.
