CEO, Retail & Generation, ScottishPower
Neil Clitheroe is the CEO of Retail & Generation for ScottishPower, responsible for all retail delivery to over 5 million customers in the UK and for managing a thermal plant portfolio of over 5000 MW. In this role, he is responsible for day-to-day thermal generation, investing in new plants, metering (including the smart metering roll-out), energy efficiency delivery and end-to-end service and sales for customers. This role is part of the wider Iberdrola Global Liberalised Energy organisation with operations in Spain, Mexico, UK and USA.
Before becoming CEO, Neil was the vice president of customer service for Iberdrola USA, responsible for all customer-facing office and field activities across Iberdrola USA’s three operating companies — Central Maine Power, NYSEG and RG&E —which deliver natural gas and electric energy to 2.4 million customers in the Northeastern United States. In this role, he was responsible for all smart grid activities for Iberdrola USA including the full roll-out of smart meters to electricity customers in Maine.
Neil earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Bath and studied on the Masters program at Copenhagen Business School. A Six Sigma green belt, he has completed the Achieving Breakthrough Service program at the Harvard Business School and the Advanced Leadership program at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He is 39 years old, married with one daughter.
