UK utility firm Centrica and Danish company Dong Energy have announced plans to develop a 2.2GW offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.

The Rhiannon wind project is expected to have between 147 and 440 turbines and if the maximum number of turbines and capacity are built, the machines will be 5MW.

Reports suggests currently only Repower and Gamesa are planning to, or offering, 5MW turbines.

The wind farm will be built off the island of Anglesey in Wales and the Isle of Man, with construction expected to start in 2017.
