A new app for smartphones launched this week can put energy management “in the palm of your hand”.

Makers of the new iPhone app say it lets users view their energy consumption peaks and resolve energy surges “on the go”.

Energy managers can also look at and analyse metering data from mains utilities or sub-metering data. This covers lighting, heating, air-conditioning and other energy intensive equipment within a building or site.

The app also highlights opportunities to cut energy use by pinpointing unnecessary use of equipment.

Lisa Gingell, director of t-mac Technologies said: “We are always looking for new ways to innovate and smartphone technology lets us do that by allowing users to see a streamlined version of our software suite in the palm of their hand.”

However the app can only be downloaded by existing and new customers of t-mac Technologies. It will also be available for Android smartphones this summer.
