A family-run fishery in Leicestershire has installed 24kW of PV solar panels to reduce its carbon footprint, save money and generate income.

Visiting anglers to Eye Kettleby Lakes in Melton Mowbray will now be greeted by a 100-panel system, which is expected to produce almost 20,000 kWh of electricity each year and remove more than ten tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere over its life.

The £58,000 investment is predicted to cut energy bills by £10,000 each year, meaning it should easily pay for itself by the end of this decade.

The system was installed by Myriad Solar PV, which is now planning two ‘talk and tour’ seminars at the fishing lakes later this month, hoping to reel in other businesses looking to become sustainable.
