When it comes to spending money on energy and being efficient you could be forgiven for thinking bigger corporate firms would be most on the ball.

Surprisingly that may not be the case if the keen eye of Schneider Electric’s UK Country President is anything to go by.

He believes smaller businesses could actually be more in touch with their energy use.

Stuart Thorogood has suggested many might already be switched on to sustainability:“Often you’ll find just because of their nature and culture smaller companies are more in touch with expenditure.”

This doesn’t mean smaller firms should get complacent though: “Maybe they were already doing it anyway. But certainly there’s room for smaller SMEs to be doing this kind of thing.”

Stuart Thorogood is speaking next Thursday at Energy Live 2013 in the London Film Museum, Covent Garden.
