The Micropower Council has rebranded itself the Sustainable Energy Association, a move it says reflects the link between energy efficiency, microgeneration and using low carbon energy in buildings.
At a reception in the House of Commons on Monday, Baroness Maddock who sits on the SEA’s board said the new name “fits better what we’re about”.
Climate Change Minister Gregory Barker who was also on hand said it was “morphing like Doctor Who”.
He welcomed the change because the energy sector can be “too siloed”, revealing that even his own department was “too siloed” when he came to office in 2010 with multiple sections for similar types of energy.
Bill Rumble, Chief Commercial Officer of Mark Group which is a member of the association said: “The formation of the Sustainable Energy Association will bring much-needed joining up of policy development and advocacy across energy efficiency and low carbon energy production in buildings.”
