The former official spokesman for Tony Blair when he was Prime Minister has joined the Department of Energy and Climate Change as a non-executive director.

Tom Kelly will juggle the post at DECC alongside his role as Corporate Communications Director at Network Rail.

The Northern Irish man will shortly be moving to become Strategic Communications Adviser for HS2.

Before joining the civil service he spent sixteen years with the BBC working in Belfast and London.
