Solar power firm Lightsource Renewable Energy is planning to offer a new ‘one-stop-shop’ to roof owners wanting solar panels.

It announced today it has bought the engineering team from another renewable energy company so it can expand its own business.

Customers will be offered a choice between chipping in to the project themselves or a ‘power purchase agreement’ or PPA which means Lightsource pays for everything while they fix their electricity bill for 25 years.

Nick Boyle, CEO for Lightsource said: “Up to now, the commercial rooftop photovoltaic market in the UK has been slow to mature and our announcement today demonstrates our commitment to realise the huge, unrealised potential of this sector.”

The company installed what is believed to be the UK’s largest rooftop solar system at Bentley’s car factory.
