Pessimistic businesses are braced for energy bills to rise in both 2014 and 2015 according to a new survey.

In a poll of hundreds of business owners, roughly two-thirds said they expect non-domestic energy prices will not only be going up this year but also again next year.

Despite the political storm focused on keeping energy bills down, merely a quarter (26%) of businesses expected energy prices to be frozen in 2015.

In the poll by price comparison site Make It Cheaper, 71% of household bill payers reckoned energy prices will go up in 2014.

An overwhelming 85% of household respondents were more worried by bills than blackouts.
