Energy consultancies have a firmly trained eye on upcoming rules for TPIs, going by the first judging round of The Energy Live Consultancy Awards (TELCA).

That’s according to chair of TELCA’s judging panel Mervyn Bowden, and founder of Intuitive Energy Solutions.

He was impressed by the awareness of new rules put forward by the energy watchdog.

Mervyn said: “I think it’s really encouraging that so many entries picked up positively on the forthcoming TPI Code of Conduct which Ofgem is working on – it shows that those in the industry care about not only getting things right for their customers but also the surrounding ethical considerations.”

What’s more, a number of new names made this year’s TELCA shortlist which was announced last week.

The former M&S energy manager said: “It’s great to see some new names appearing in this year’s shortlist – well done to all the companies and individuals who’ve made it so far.”

Entering for awards takes a lot of time and resources but is a “great opportunity” for companies large and small, said Mervyn, “to take a really good look at what they do, their accomplishments and the areas of which they’re sufficiently proud to put them up for public scrutiny.”

The standard of entries has been “remarkably high” across all the categories, added Mervyn: “The margins between being shortlisted or not were in many cases very narrow.”

The TELCA winners will be announced at a glitzy awards ceremony on 19 June 2014. ELN has begun a TPI Code of Conduct Crusade, calling on Ofgem to take on board the views of as many consultants as possible. If you’d like to have your say, email [email protected]
