Cuadrilla Resources has asked permission to hydraulically fracture or frack for shale gas at a Lancashire site.

It has submitted plans to Lancashire County Council for drilling, fracking and testing the flow of gas from up to four wells at Preston New Road.

The company announced its plans in February to apply for permission here and another site at Roseacre Wood.

The Preston New Road planning application and an Environmental Statement will be available to the public once it is validated not approved by the council, expected in the next two weeks said Cuadrilla.

After this the county council will launch a formal consultation process for the public to comment on plans.
